World of Women NFT: A Pioneer of Today's NFTs

The World of Women (WoW) NFT project took the NFT space by storm in the middle of 2021, during the heat of the NFT inferno. Some things were just meant to be and this project seems like one of them. The WoW NFT project did something that was relatively uncommon in the space thus far: it tied the idea of an NFT project (which generally are focused on fun and light-heartedness) with an idea that might be considered heavier and more meaningful: equality. The project speaks to things that matter, as well as fun and crypto investing. What a wonderful combination.

WoW is on a Mission

“World of Women was launched on the night of July 27th with very clear goals in mind: bring more visibility to women and more diversity in the NFT space.” –WoW Medium Account

What’s remarkable about the WoW project is that they’re built on a mission. Beneath their project is a set of core values which they proudly promote using the medium of an NFT project: equal opportunity, inclusively, and representation. Each of these values is a direct commentary on social causes that have been gathering steam for the past few years, and this project has effectively utilized NFT technology to gather a community behind and around those ideas. The fact that the project was founded by individuals who actually care about the subject matter of their project and are committed to the causes they support is perhaps the biggest aspect of this project’s success. There were a couple other advantages in play for the WoW crowd, but creating a meaningful and compelling identity based in authenticity certainly opened many of those doors.

WoW is Led with Conviction

Yam Karkai is one of the co-founders of the project and the artist of the original collection. In addition to being an extremely talented artist, she’s a woman and is from a multicultural background. She’s aligned with the purpose of the project and understands the pain points of her community, allowing her to more accurately champion them. In addition to Yam, the WoW founding team has three other people who share in the vision and has since grown to a team of nine. Through the efforts of the WoW team, the project has been able to successfully support several charities and artists since mint, with many more to come.

In addition to championing the broader causes of equal opportunity and inclusivity, the WoW project has also reinvested a healthy portion of their profits back into the crypto art community. Part of their mission is to support emerging artists and many of their activities since minting have pointed back to that core value.

The WoW NFT community is not done, even though they’ve been around for almost half a year (FOREVER in NFT terms). There are rumors of an additional collection to be dropped soon, allowing more people to become a part of the WoW community. The original 10,000 tokens will always have the most perks and privileges, but if you’re just now hearing about the World of Women, there’s still an opportunity for you to be involved. What’s your favorite aspect of the WoW project?
