NFT (Non-Fungible Token) technology is still in its beginning stages and often newbies to the space wonder what an NFT even is and how it could be valuable. Though it started revolving mostly around art, it’s now expanding in many directions including exclusive membership to communities like the Bored Ape Yacht Club. As it continues to evolve, more and more uses are cropping up in several different industries. With the Flyfish Club, NFT technology is redefining the higher end of the restaurant industry in an exciting new way and providing real world utility for NFT holders that hasn’t been seen in NFT land yet.
The restaurant industry (also known as the hospitality industry) sells food, yes, but more so sells an experience. Part of this experience, especially in the fine dining world, includes the physical location of the joint as well as the social proof that comes with belonging to an exclusive, membership only club. When you say you’re going to dinner at the country club, it creates a different impression than when you’re headed to Denny’s (no shade to Denny’s, but it has a certain…. reputation). NFTs are giving this social proof aspect of fine dining a brand new twist with this all-new exclusive hospitality experience.
The Flyfish Club is an exclusive, membership-only seafood restaurant projected to be based in New York City. Rather than the traditional recurring membership fee model, the Flyfish Club is sailing in new waters by requiring that members hold an NFT to gain entry.
By providing an actual asset that grants membership (the NFT), the Flyfish Club has transformed a perishable service (membership) into an asset that has potential to appreciate, without sacrificing any utility. Members still enjoy the exclusivity, the social clout, and the upscale atmosphere, but don’t have to continually pay for it every month or year. In addition, there will be a leasing function that may provide a cash flow opportunity for out of state holders who are not able to physically take advantage of the establishment. This is redefinining a membership as its own tradeable asset, rather than just an expense.
This is exciting from an NFT standpoint because many NFT projects thus far have served as great investments and have beautiful art, but have lacked actual utility beyond virtual community membership. This is a “project” that’s being created by a team of extremely qualified businessmen and it’s backed by an ACTUAL business that provides REAL WORLD utility. From the real-world standpoint, it’s a revolutionary dining experience with a futuristic, technological twist.
Membership is broken into two tiers: the Flyfish tier (FF) and the Flyfish Omakase tier (FFO). The Flyfish (FF) tokens grant access to the cocktail lounge (where no reservation is required) and the main dining area (where reservation IS required). With the FF token, guests are allowed WITH the token holder at their table. The FFO tokens grant access to everything in the FF tier, as well as entry into the hyper-exclusive omakase room.
“The 14-seat omakase room will be nestled away in a private section of our club, to ensure the tasting experience is perfectly curated without distraction.”
“Omakase” means that the menu is selected by the chef, which at the Flyfish Club will consist of the finest fish, flown in daily. This room is sure to set a new standard for “exclusive fine-dining experience” and can only be accessed by FFO holders (who are allowed only ONE guest).
A massively important aspect of any endeavor, whether it’s a business like a restaurant, an NFT project, or even a sports group, is who is on the team. Having people that not only promise big things, but are capable of delivering them is paramount to the success of something like the Flyfish Club. So who is behind the VCR Group?
Brings a massive influence on the marketing, innovation, and technology sides of the business, bringing to the table a community of loyal followers who are already familiar with crypto technology. That’s huge, because lack of crypto knowledge is a gigantic source of friction that could threaten the adoption of the Flyfish Club’s business model. Gary brings, along with his business genius and background, a crowd that’s already been primed on the new innovation and is fiercely committed to Gary and his ventures.
David has crucial experience that directly relates to and will impact the success of the Flyfish Club. Having over 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry IN NEW YORK CITY makes him exceptionally qualified to run this venture. Every city is different, especially when it comes to restaurant culture and their ability to thrive. A small rural town plays by different rules, and the cultural differences in major cities can make or break a restaurant’s success. His relevant experience in the Big Apple’s restaurant scene, coupled with his strategic business relationships and ties to private equity companies, give the Flyfish Club much better odds of success.
Josh adds some flavor and personality to the team. One half of a restaurant is operating it smoothly and providing an experience. The other half is the food! If the food in a fine dining establishment is sub-par, then the business will fail. Josh brings over 25 years of well traveled culinary-focused experience to the team. He’s trained with masters of the culinary craft, honing his skills at home and abroad. In addition to his cooking prowess, he is also a television personality who’s been on the Food Network and other notable food-related television shows. During Covid he even started his own social media show titled “Cooking With The Capons” and likes to perform both in and out of the kitchen.
Conor functions as a partner in the venture and the EVP of Operations. He has extensive operational experience, with a focus on the cultural aspects of cuisine. He’s overseen over 17 restaurants in multiple states, and may provide valuable insight on the viability of this concept in other geographical areas, should it’s business model prove out. His passion for aesthetics and people make him yet another value-add to the VCR group.
Scheduled to open its doors sometime in 2023, the VCR Group’s Flyfish Club is pioneering the use of NFT technology in the food space and redefining what’s possible in both the restaurateering realm and the NFT space. Backed by a highly qualified team and a ready-made audience, it’s uniquely positioned for a stunning success. Is fine dining ready for the best NFT-fuelled experience yet? We can’t wait for 2023 to find out. To learn more about the FlyFish Club checkout their website by visiting: www.flyfishclub.com
